The Hepworth Wakefield Festive Market by rail from Chinley

The Hepworth in Wakefield presents a different angle on pre-Christmas markets - and you can travel there by rail with just one change in Sheffield from Chinley.

Just as the Piece Hall in Halifax provides an iconic back-drop to the town's Christmas market, the Hepworth would be another strong contender in any list of fascinating venues....

Experience Wakefield describes the Hepworth as follows:-

"The Hepworth Wakefield is an award-winning art gallery in the heart of Yorkshire, set within Wakefield’s historic waterfront overlooking the River Calder. Designed by the acclaimed David Chipperfield Architects, the gallery opened in May 2011.

Named after Barbara Hepworth, one of the most important artists of the 20th century, who was born and brought up in Wakefield, the gallery presents major exhibitions of the best international modern and contemporary art and has dedicated galleries exploring Hepworth’s art and working process".

The Hepworth's website advertises 2024's festive markets as follows:-

On Saturday 23rd November and Sunday 24th November, and on Saturday 30th November and Sunday 1st December between 10am - 4pm,  you can discover over 75 independent makers each weekend selling candles, ceramics, food and drink, gifts for children, homeware, jewellery, prints, stationery, textiles and more.

Also on offer are family activities, half-price exhibition entry, live music and street food.
