It's well worth taking a look at the 'Switzerland in the Peak District ' pilot that the Hope Valley Climate Action group is currently organising.
The pilot's aims are described as:-
“Our goal is to show how rural areas like ours can have dependable, joined-up bus and rail services, linked with safe walking and cycling routes.”
“Switzerland has one of the best public transport systems in the world – even its rural villages enjoy frequent, reliable, integrated services. Inspired by that model, we want to bring the same ambition to the UK countryside with the Switzerland in the Peak District pilot here in the Hope Valley.”
A recent HVCA/Travelling Light webinar was open to all and allowed further exploration - and news about - many of the themes. The author of this CBTG post attended - attached here are some ideas in pdf format about what can be learnt from an exploration of the ways in which public transport is organised in Switzerland.
The Foundation for Integrated Transport provided funds to support HVCA's initiative - you can find out more here
