Northern will charge for parking at Chinley station from Spring 2025
Northern has published a new list of 14 stations where car parking charges will come into effect from Tuesday 28th May 2024. Click here to view the announcement on the Northern website where you will find the details about applicable charges etc...
The stations affected are:-
Adlington (Cheshire), Bamber Bridge*, Burnley Central, Church Fenton, Colne, Cuddington, Disley, Hathersage, Haydon Bridge, Layton, Mouldsworth, New Mills Newtown, Padgate, Whaley Bridge
Following representations from the Chinley, Buxworth & Brownside Parish Council (see the latest newsletter here), car parking charges at Chinley station will only apply from the Spring of 2025, by which time the car park at the new Community Centre will be available.
* With regard to the introduction of parking charges at Bamber Bridge (near Preston), there has been recent (May 17, 2024) coverage by BBC News (Lancashire) of associated issues that have been raised by the South Ribble Pensioners Association.
In March 2024 the BBC had previously reported on parking issues on local streets raised by people living near Chorley following Northern's introduction of charges at nearby Buckshaw Parkway station in December 2023.
