The Peaks and Dales Line Feasibility Study

The Peaks and Dales Line study is a fascinating project which merits very serious consideration by central and regional government.

Have a look at the website to read up on the detail.

Here is how the Peaks and Dales project is described:

"Travel to, from, in and through the Peaks and Dales corridor has become increasingly car‑dependent.  Congestion on key routes such as the A6 is now a regular feature rather than an exception, affecting local communities, businesses, visitors and the nationally protected landscape of the Peak District.

Population change, travel patterns and visitor demand mean these pressures are expected to intensify. Without intervention, the likely outcomes are longer journey times, worsening air quality, increased carbon emissions and declining accessibility for those without access to a car.

The Peaks and Dales Line Feasibility Study was commissioned to understand whether these challenges could realistically be addressed through conventional road‑based measures or lower‑capacity interventions, or whether a different approach is required".
