Stockport station closures during April, August and October 2025 !

There is major disruption to rail services and to vehicle and pedestrian traffic through Stockport for three extended periods in 2025 ....

Network Rail will be carrying out major engineering work in 2025 and 2026 to replace a bridge that takes the Greek Street roundabout over the West Coast main line. The project will be completed in Spring 2026.

The first phase of work took place over the Easter Bank Holiday in April.

Between 2 August and the morning of 23 August, the railway will be closed through Stockport. During this period the old bridge will be removed and the new one installed.

Passengers are advised to plan their journey on the National Rail Enquires website (click here!), where they can find information about how their specific services are affected.

There will be more railway work required in October and over Christmas 2025.
